Emacs एक शक्तिशाली, निःशुल्क (Free) एवं ओपन सोर्स टेक्स्ट एडिटर है, जो Windows, macOS, Linux, Unix और FreeBSD सहित अनेक ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम पर उपलब्ध है। इसे GNU Project के अंतर्गत विकसित किया गया है और यह विशेष रूप से प्रोग्रामर तथा Unix/Linux उपयोगकर्ताओं के बीच लोकप्रिय है। टेक्स्ट एडिटिंग के अलावा Emacs की सहायता से Shell Commands चलाना, इंटरनेट का उपयोग करना, प्रोग्राम लिखना एवं डिबग करना, फ़ाइल प्रबंधन करना तथा ई-मेल भेजना और प्राप्त करना भी संभव है।
